Raul Alejandro Ruiz Ruiz Ocasio, born January 10, 1993, is a Puerto Rican singer/songwriter. Also known as the "King of the New Reggaeton",[2][3he is part of "the new generation" of Puerto Rican urban musicians. The debut album, Afrodisiaco, was released in November of 2020. Vice Versa was his follow-up studio album. The first single, "Todo de Ti", was released in June 2021. Two Latin Grammy Awards have been won by him from 12 nominations. Raul Alejandro Ruiz was born on the 10th of January 1993, in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was raised in Canovanas and Carolina. [4][5] His father Raul Ocasio Ruiz played guitar and his mother Maria Nelly Ruiz was his back-up vocalist. They introduced him to the music of Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. [6] Alejandro lived with his father for many years in the United States, mostly New York City and Miami in which were influenced by R&B and dancehall. 7] 8 Alejandro and his fellow Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA are childhood friends; they both went to the same school and took classes together. 9/10/10 Alejandro took part in school talent shows as a child because he loves dancing. After completing high school, he began his studies at University of Puerto Rico. From the age of 6 to the age of 20 playing soccer, he was a player, but he quit after deciding that he "could not perform as he expected to" and was injured at the age of 20. He relocated to Orlando, Florida to attempt to get scouted to play in the Premier Development League (PDL) but was ultimately not successful. Rauw Alejandro's music style is Latin R&B and reggaeton. Also, he enjoys the rhythmic pop and ballads. Billboard declared that his music "set him distinct" from the growing group of Reggaetoneros who lean towards pop. He was initially influenced by Presley and Jackson in the early days, but later by Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee as well as Chris Brown. [24] He also cites Ciara as an influencer in music.
